Main Foyer, Box Office and Information Desk

Entrance to the main foyer is through fairly heavy, glass double doors. On the left, there is a wheelchair accessible automatic door, which opens two ways using an automatic button. It is operational from both sides, opening onto the street.

When you enter, you can collect tickets for theatre and education events at the box office on the right hand side. The box office counter for wheelchair patrons is 80cm high. There is a separate ramped entrance to the exhibition on Bankside. Please see Visiting Shakespeare's Globe Exhibition.

There is a lift to the right of the box office which holds 6 people or one wheelchair and one escort. The door is 81cm wide. It gives access to the theatre level (known as the piazza level), café, restaurant and other hospitality areas such as the Founders' Foyer and the Balcony Room.

The information desk is directly in front of the entrance doors. One side of the counter is lowered for patrons in wheelchairs and is 75cm high. There is no cloakroom for security reasons. However, application may be made to the House Manager in exceptional circumstances.

A large staircase, with a handrail on both sides, is to the left of the information desk, leading to the gift shop, piazza and café areas. Glass doors open onto the piazza which surrounds the theatre. The shop is to the left of the piazza entrance and is open daily.

Two public payphones are situated on the left as you enter the foyer and are low enough for use by patrons in wheelchairs.

Please note that all these areas often get very crowded. During the theatre season (April - September), food and drink are available for purchase from carts and individual vendors situated on the piazza, which means that there are often queues.

Toilets

There are wheelchair-accessible toilets by Globe Theatre Door 1 on piazza level; by the Balcony Room on the second floor; and on the west side of the piazza next to the First Aid Room. There is also a wheelchair-accessible toilet in the exhibition.

First Aid Rooms

There are two First Aid Rooms, one servicing the theatre and one servicing the exhibition. Both are accessible by lift and admittance is via either the Duty or the House Manager.

Baby Change Facilities

There are three areas: by the toilets beyond the gift shop on piazza level next to Globe Door 1; in the adapted toilet outside the café and on the lower level of the exhibition, by the wheelchair accessible toilets.
