Season Preview Event
Best Friends and Patrons are exclusively invited to a behind-the-scenes introduction to the forthcoming season each March. This is a great opportunity to join Dominic Dromgoole and members of the creative teams as they discuss their exciting plans. Additional highlights of this event include topical talks, for example, in 2007 playwrights Jack Shepherd and Howard Brenton discussed the challenges of writing for the Globe stage. Guests are invited to finish off their evening with a glass of wine and tasty nibbles.
Christmas Carol Concert
The Friends Christmas Carol Concert is an annual event to kick-off the festive spirit, packed full of mince pies, wine and holiday cheer. Best Friend Dawn McCormick Dean attended the Service in 2006 and described the event as “a very special evening of music, verse, contemplation and joyous singing” housed perfectly in St. Giles-in-the-Fields, a little gem in the West End known as the Poets’ Church. The event programme includes a selection of readings – in 2006 guest readers included Prunella Scales and Juliet Rylance – and both traditional and modern versions of some well-known carols by a leading chamber choir.
Heaven to Hell Tours
Exclusive backstage tours organised for Friends run from October to April about once a month. Guests are taken from the attic (heaven) right down to the understage (hell). The tour is led by our experienced Stage Management team and provides a fascinating insight into the Globe as a working theatre. We even let you have a quick peek into our original practices clothing store!
