Happy Birthday William Shakespeare

River Event and the opening of the Theatre Season

Today, Shakespeare’s 444th birthday, our 2008 theatre season opens with the first performance of the season - King Lear, and we’ll be marking the day with a special event on the Thames.

At 6pm a mini Elizabethan theatre will be transported up the river by boat from Butler’s Wharf to the Globe with musicians entertaining everyone along the way. Entertainment will continue on the river until 7.00pm when the gates to the theatre will open.
River Event Free.
Tickets for King Lear £5-£33.

Supported by Greater London Authority.
