The Theatre Season runs from April to October with productions of the work of Shakespeare, his contemporaries and new writers. Each Year the Globe Theatre Company rediscovers the dynamic relationship between the audience and the actor in this unique space. Audiences experience the 'wooden O' either sitting in a gallery or standing informally as a groundling in the yard, just as they would have done 400 years ago.

  • The theatre has a capacity of 1500 people per performance.
  • Approximately a quarter of a million people visit the Globe during the annual performance season.
  • Up to 700 'groundlings' can stand in the yard for each performance.
  • Some 150 000 people pay just £5 for a groundling ticket every year.
  • The theatre season runs from April to October with over 200 performances attracting annual audiences of 300,000.
