Globe Education run three sessions for students over the age of 16.

A-Level / Bespoke Study Days

  • An introductory lecture exploring the historical and social context of the Globe playhouse.
  • A guided visit to the Globe Theatre.
  • A visit to Shakespeare’s Globe Exhibition.
  • A 90 minute practical workshop exploring your choice of play in relation to the playhouse for which it was written.

Designed to suit the specific needs of your group, Study Days can be linked to classroom work on Shakespeare’s plays to explore relationships between language and structure and the influence of culture, text and historical period on performance.

Year round
Monday to Friday
11am – 3.30pm

Fee: Lecture, Tour and Workshop: £14 per student - minimum charge of £300
Can be combined with a visit to Shakespeare's Globe Exhibition for an additional £3.50 per student.

Playing the Globe

  • A 90 minute session led by a Globe Education Practitioner
  • Including a half hour guided visit to the theatre and a one hour workshop
  • The workshop is based on any Shakespeare Play of your choice

A practical introduction to performance conditions at the Globe, this session explores the theatre space and its influence on playing style and language. This workshop can be used to support work in Theatre Studies and English Literature, focusing on:
- The relationship between text and performance
- How theatre is affected by cultural and social influences
- How language and form shape meaning

May to September
Monday to Friday
10.30am, 11.30am or 12.30pm

Fee: £7.50 per student - minimum charge of £160
Teachers free
Can be combined with a visit to Shakespeare's Globe Exhibition for an additional £3.50 per student.
We can accommodate up to 4 classes of 30 students per day, subject to availability.

Lectures

  • An introductory lecture on the relationship between architecture, actor and audience
  • How did playing conditions in the original Globe influence scripts written for it?
  • References can be made to plays that groups are seeing or studying
  • The 90 minute session includes a guided visit to the Globe Theatre
