Study Days

Study Days provide a complete range of theatrical and scholarly perspectives on the plays in the theatre season, led by Shakespeare scholars and members of the Globe production team.

Time: 10am - 6pm
Venue: Shakespeare's Globe
Tickets: £50 (£45 FoSG/concs/students)
Ticket price includes team and coffee but not lunch.
Please note that the Study Day schedule will not include a performance of the play.

Henry VIII

Saturday 22 May

The Globe burned down on 29 June 1613 during a performance of Henry VIII. Mark Rosenblatt the director of this year’s production will share his approach to staging the first production of Henry VIII under the thatch roof of the new Globe. Other contributors will include Professor Gordon McMullan (King’s College London), editor of the much acclaimed Arden edition of Henry VIII, who will consider the historical context of the play and Shakespeare’s collaboration with John Fletcher.

Macbeth

Saturday 5 June

Members of the production team will provide insights into the creation of this season’s Macbeth. They will be joined by leading Shakespeare scholars Professor Andrew Hadfield (University of Sussex) who will provide a historical perspective for the play, and Professor Tony Howard (University of Warwick) who will explore how the world of Macbeth has been reimagined in the cinema.
