30 November
Hello, Sophie here, part of the props team for the Cracker and a Footsbarn kid!
Just been in central France at the company base working on the last stages of the production. Snotty noses, wise king crowns, crèche costumes, flying flies, jolly boy wigs, painted globes, Macbeth sporrans and Richard III baldheads. We’re worried about those poor actors catching cold so Hannah the costume designer has knitted them all extra layers and woolly leggings. Hopefully it won’t rain too much over the festive season so everything won’t turn into soggy bits of papier-mache and damp rags!! Just joking - it’s all been water proofed to ensure the highest standard of theatrical effect!
We had a laugh for an impromptu photo shoot with some of the actors, and Tim the producer sweltered inside the Lord of Misrule puppet as we made him dance around in the sawdust. The snotty noses were a hit especially with Vinnie who tried to eat his drips!! Confetti flew and snow drifted onto 3-headed Bollo as he wrestled to pull a cracker and then tried read the jokes without his reading glasses.
Can’t wait to see it all installed at the Globe in a few weeks and for the fun and frolics to begin. See everybody soon!
