Building Your Library

A flash banner.

A dizzying number of books are published each year on the subject of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Building Your Library will recommend volumes worth adding to your bookshelf whatever your level of interest. It will feature reviews of recently published books and interviews with authors as well as offering a way of ordering books online through the Globe shop.

We are still building many of these pages! We apologise if you can't find all the information that you require. Please check back soon if you can't find what you want.

Volumes that I prize

In Volumes that I prize scholars, teachers and theatre artists select books about Shakespeare that have inspired and informed their approach to reading, teaching and/or interpreting the plays.

The series is launched by Tony Howard (Senior Lectuer, Warwick University), author of Women as Hamlet (CUP, 2007) the first book to be chosen as the Globe's Book of the Season. He discusses his choices in conversation with Claire Daniel, a research intern working in the Globe Education department.
